The sample appearing as irregular pieces of crystals, varying in size,
deep blue or light blue, semi-opaque, with glassy luster. Brittle in texture,
easily broken into prismatical fragments. Sour and acrid in taste, cold
in nature, toxic, and attributive to liver channel.
1. Induce vomiting: For accumulation of wind-phlegm, pharyngitis, epilepsy
and retention of poisons in the stomach.
2. Eliminate toxic material, remove dampness and clear away necrotic tissues
(external use): For eye diseases of wind-heat type such as conjunctivitis
and blepharitis, its decoction is used for eye wash; for aphthae and ulcerative
gingivitis, used with Catechu and Rhizoma Picrorhizae as powder for topical
application; for unruptured abscess and pterygium, used as powder for
