Fructus Rubi


Fruit of Rubus Chingii Hu, family Rosaceae.

Fruits appearing as aggregate fruit (composed of numerous achenes), semi-spherical or flat-conical, 0.6-1.5 cm long, 0.5-1.5 cm in diameter at the base. Surface yellow-green to yellow-brown. Achenes densely clustered, apex small and obtuse, base broad and depressed at the bottom; easily separated. A single achene appearing as semilunar, covered by white down and reticulate marks. Sweet and sour in taste, warm in nature, and attributive to liver and kidney channels.

1. Benefit the kidney, preserve essence and decrease micturition: For kidney deficiency manifested as nocturnal emission, enuresis and frequent micturition, usually used together with Fructus Alpiniae Oxyphyltae and Ootheca Mantidis; for impotence due to kidney deliciency, used together with Semen Cuscutae and Semen Astragali Cornplanati
2. Promote visual acuity For blurring of vision due to deficiency of liver and kidney, used together with Fructus Lycti, Fructus Schisandrae and Cuscutae.

Pharmacological Action
Possessing an estrogen-like effect.

Administration Decoction: 3-10g.
