The aril of Euphoria longan (Lour.) Steud., family Sapindaceae
Characteristics
Irregular
in size, brown, translucent, wrinkled on one side, bright and finely striated
on the other side. Soft and moist in texture. Sweet in 
taste,
warm in nature, and attributive to heart and spleen channels.
Indication
Invigorate the heart and spleen, nourish blood and calm the mind: For
deficiency of vital energy and blood manifested as palpitation, insomnia,
amnesia and dizziness, or during convalescence and after delivery, usually
used together with Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Astragali seu Hedysan
and Semen Ziziphi Spinosae.
Pharrnacological
Action
Its decoction inhibits the growth of Bacillus dysenteriae in vitro.
Administration Decoction: 6-15g; up to 30-60g
