Gemma Agrimoniae

The bud (with rhizome) of Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb., family Rosaceae.
Characteristics
The bud appearing as somewhat conical, curved, 24 cm long and 0.5-1.0
cm in diameter. The lower part as rhizome 1-2 cm long, with dense nodes
covered by fibrous roots; the upper part as buds or seedlings, with several
lanceolate membranous and scaly envelopes; buds yellow-green densely covered
by white hairs. Attributive to liver, small intestine and large intestine
channels.
Indication
Kill parasite: For taeniasis, also for trichomoniasis vaginalis and intestinalis.
Pharmacological
Action
1. Agrimonol is a taeniacide.
2. Agrimonine is a hemostatic.
3. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.
Administration
For taeniasis: Powder 30-45g or extract 1.5g, or crystal (agrimonol) 0.8g
taken in the moming before meals, followed by purgative one and half hour
later.
For trichomoniasis intestinalis: Powder 20-30g.
For trichomoniasis vaginalis: Extract and 30% agrimonol prepared as suppository,
each of. which weighing 3g, for vaginal suppository every night for 10-20
days.
