The scierotium of Omphalia lapidescens Schroet., family Tricholomataceae.
Characteristics
The
scierotium appearing as nearly spherical or irregular masses, 1-3 cm in
diameter. Surface grey-brown to black-brown, somewhat reticulated. Broken
surface uneven, white to yellowish, farinaceous or granular, with brown
marble-like stria. Slightly bitter in taste, cold in nature, and attributive
to stomach and large intestine channels.
Indication
Kill parasite: For taeniasis, oxyuriasis, 
ascariasis
and ancylostomiasis.
Pharmacological
Action
1. Its proteolytic enzyme is a taeniacidal agent.
2. Its alcoholic extract is an ascaricide.
Administration
Powder:
20-60g for oral use. Its active principle is a proteolytic enzyme which
is thermolabile and should not be boiled.
