Characteristics
Fruit appearing as small spheroidal nut, 1.5-2.0 mm in diameter. Surface
grey-brown, with protruding reticular marks; base with scars of fruit
stalk. Acrid in taste, warm in nature, and attributive to lung channeL
Indication
1.
Eliminate phlegm, relieve cough and dyspnea: For productive cough with
dyspnea and feeling of fullness and oppression in the chest, usually used
together with Semen Sinapis Albae and Semen Raphani (Decoction Containing
Three Kinds of Seed for the Aged).
2. Moisturize the intestine and relax the bowels: For constipition due
to dryness of the intestine.
Administration
Decoction: 3-9g
(crushed before decocting).
