The flower bud of Tussikzgo farfara L, family Compositae.
Characteristics
Bud
somewhat clavate, apex thick and round, often three buds jointed together,
1.5-3.0 cm long. Surface yellow-purple; with ligular and tubular flowers
at the base surrounded by several layers of bracts. Flowers about 3 mm
long, pappiferous. Tough in texture, jointed with white threads when broken.
Acrid and sweet in taste, wann in nature, and attributive to lung channel.
Indication
Lower the adverse-rising energy, relieve cough and eliminate phlegm: For
productive cough with dyspnea, usually for cough and asthma of wind-cold
type.
Phamiacological
Action
1. Antitussive and expectorant.
2.Relieving bronchospasm.
Administration
Decoction: 3-9g.
