Herba Desmodii Triquetri
Source
The
whole plant of Desmodium triquetrum (L.) DC., family Leguminosae.
Characteristics
A subshrub-like herb with four-angled stem. Leaves unifoliate, compound
and alternate, apical leaflets lanceolate, leaf wings obyate invertedly
resembling calabashes. Raceme axillary, corolla papilionaceous and purple.
Legume flat, with 5-8 nodes. Branch, fruit and underside of leaf all covered
by hairs. Slightly bitter in taste, cold in nature, and attributive to
liver, spleen and large intestine channels.
Indication
Clear away heat, promote diuresis, promote digestion and kill parasite:
For common cold of summer-heat and dampness type, diarrhea of dampness-heat
type, jaundice, infantile malnutrition, dyspepsia, leucorrhagia, ancylostomiasis,
edema, etc. Recently also used for Candida albicans infection with stomatitis,
enteritis, vaginitis and dermatitis, usually used together with Herba
Agastachis.
Pharmacological
Action
Inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans in vitro.
Administration
Decoction: 15-45g.
External use: Appropriate amount.
