Talcum

The ore of talcum of monoclinic system, usually prepared as powder.
Characteristics
The sample appearing as irregular mass, white or bluish or yellowish,
with waxy lustre. Pulvis Talci nearly white, lustrous, smooth and fine.
Sweet in taste, smooth in nature, and attributive to stomach and urinary
bladder channels.
Indication
1. Clear away heat, promote diuresis and relieve stranguria: For stranguria
caused by urinary stone or of heat type, usually used together with Polyporus
Umbeliatus and Rhizoma Alismatis.
2. Deprive dampness to stop diarrhea: For diarrhea of dampness-heat type
and of summer-heat type, dysentery, usually used together with Radix Glycyrrhizae.
3. Clear away summer-heat: For summer-heat syndrome with thirst and dysuria;
for dampness-heat syndrome with perspiration, continuous fever, soreness
of the extremities, oliguria with reddish urine.
4. Extemal use for clearing away heat and astrigenting: For exudative
skin lesion, eczema, miliaria, etc.
Administration
Decoction: 6-18g
Extemal use: Appropriate amount.
