The whole plant of Hypencum japonicum Thunb. family Guttiferae.
Characteristics
A
herbiet. Stem slender. Leaves opposite, ovate, sessile. Flower terminal,
small and yellow. Bitter and acrid in taste, mild in nature, and attributive
to liver and gallbladder channels.
Indication
1. Deprive dampness and relieve jaundice: For jaundice, liver and gallbladder
diseases of dampness-heat type. Recently used for infectious hepatitis
and cholecystitis.
2. Clear away heat and toxic material: For skin infection, lung abscess
and acute appendicitis. Recently, also for encephalitis B, poliomyelitis
and typhoid fever, and snake poisoning.
3. Promote blood circulation and relieve edema: For trauma with blodd
stasis (both external and oral use).
Pharmacological
Action
1.
Promoting the neutrophilic phagocytosis in mice.
2 Inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus and Shigella dysentenae in vitro.
Administration
Decoction: 15-30g.
External use: Appropriate amount.
