The
exocarpiun of Beninoasa hispida (Thunb.) Cong., family Cucurbitaceae.
Characteristics
The sample appearing as irregular involuted pieces; outer surface light
green and glaucous; inner surface with visible vascular bundles. Sweet
in taste, siightly cold in nature, and attributive to kidney, stomach
and small intestine channels.
Indication
1. Promote diuresis to relieve edema: For edema and dysuria.
2. Clear away summer-heat: For summer-heat syndrome with thirst, oliguria
and reddish urine.
Pharmacological
Action
Diuretic.
Administration Decoction: 15-30g.
