Source
Bark of Erythrina variegata L. var. orientalis (L.) Merr., family Leguminosae.
Characteristics
Bark plate-lamellar, slightly involuted at both sides, 0.3-1.0 cm thick,
light brown; surface with longitudinal cracks and scattered conical spines;
base broad, apex acute and curved; inner surface flat, with fine reticular
striae. Section lobed. Prepared by crosscutting into strips. Bitter in
taste, mild in nature, and attributive to liver and kidney channels.
Indication
1. Expel wind-dampness, dredge the channels and relieve arthralgia: For
arthralgia of wind-darnpness type accompanied with numbness and muscular
spasm, especially for that located at the waist and lower extremities.
2. Kill parasites and alleviate itching: For scabies (extemal use as lotion
or wet compress).
Administration
Decoction: 3-12g.
