The
vine stem of Plperfutokadsura Sieb. et Zucc. and several species of the
same genus, family Piperaceae.
Characteristics
Vine stem ligneous, oblate strips, 0.3-2.0 cm in diameter, surface grey-brown,
with longitudinal ridges; nodes enlarged, bearing adventitious roots.
Cross section revealing radial vascular bundles and visible vessel pores
and pith. Aromatic in odour. Acrid in taste, slightly warm in nature,
and attributive to liver channel.
Indication
1.
Expel wind dampness and dredge the channels: For rheumatism with arthralgia,
immovability of joints and muscular spasm.
2. Warm the lung to relieve cough: For cough and dyspnea of lung-cold
origin, and chronic cough.
Administration Decoction: 6-15g.
