The pollen of Typha angustifolia L, family Typhaceae.
Characteristics
Pollen
bright yellow fine powder, light, smooth, sometimes mixed with small fragments
of filaments and perianths. Sweet in taste, mild in nature, and attributive
to liver and pericardium channels.
Indicafion
1. Stop bleeding and remove blood stasis: For bleeding caused by trauma
and blood-stasis, especially for metrorrhagia and menorrhagia.
2.
Promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis: For angina pectoria,
postpartum abdominal pain, menalgia, abdominal pain and swelling and traumatic
pain due to blood stasis. Recently used for hyperlipemia, especially for
hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterinemia.
3. Promote diuresis and reduce stranguria: For stranguria complicated
by hematuria and that of heat type. In addition, external use for exudative
eczema.
Pharmacological
Action
1. Strengthening the tone and promoting rhythmical contraction of uterus
in animals arid human.
2. Its decoction lowers blood pressure and shortens blood clotting time.
Administration
Decoction: 5-10g (wrapped with cloth).
Powder: 2-3g, bid or tid.
Tablet: 30g daily for coronary heart diseases and hyperlipemia.
