Rhizoma Zingiberis
Source
The dried rhizome of Zingiber officinale (Wilid.) Rosc., family Zingiberaceae.
Prepared by cutting into piece, frying with sand to slightly black or
brown-yellow and then soaking in water.
Characteristics
Irregular masses, unequal in size, surface brown-yellow to black-brown,
somewhat swollen, light and brittle in texture. Bitter and acrid in taste,
hot in nature, and attributive to spleen and liver channels.
Indication
1. Warm the meridian to stop bleeding: For hematemesis, hemafecia, hemoptysis
and metrorrhagia of asthenia-cold type.
2. Warm the meridian to alleviate pain: For abdominal pain and postpartum
abdominal pain of asthenia-cold type.
Administration
Decoction: 3-6g.
Powder: 1-2g bid or tid.
