The charred human hair.
Characteristics
Appearing as irregular masses, unequal in size, black, lustrous, with
numerous fine pores, resembling a sponge. Light and loose in texture,
easily broken to pieces. Bitter in taste, slightly warm in nature, and
attributive to liver and stomach channels.
Indication
1.
Stop bleeding by astringing and eliminate blood stasis: For stranguria
complicated by hematuria, metrorrhagia, also for hemoptysis, epistaxis,
hematemesis and hemafecia. Its advantage is to stop bleeding without formation
of blood stasis.
2. Promote diuresis: For dysuria.
Pharmacological
Action
1. Inhibiting the growth of various pathogenic bacteria.
2. Shortening the bleeding time, blood clotting time and plasma recalcification
time.
Administration
Decoction: 6-9g.
Powder: 1.5-3.0g, 1-3 times daily.
