The resin from the bark of Commiphora myrrha Engi. or other species in
the same genus, family Burseraceae.
Resin appearing as irregular masses composed of numerous irregular granules,
about 2.5 cm in size. Surface red-brown to yellow-brown, uneven. Fractured
surface granular, oily lustrous with whitish dots. Becoming yellowish
brown milky fluid when ground with water. Aromatic in odour. Bitter in
taste, mild in nature, and attributive to liver, heart and spleen channels.
Same as Ohbanurn but more powerful in removing stasis and promoting blood
circulation, and less powerful in promoting vital energy circulation and
relaxing tendons, see Olibanum.
