The fruit of Litsea cubeba (Lour.) Pers., family Lauraceae.
Characteristics
Fruit
nearly spherical, 4-6 mm in diameter. Carpodermis brown, reticular; base
bearing remained carpopodium. Aromatic in odour. Acrid in taste, warm
in nature, and attributive to spleen, stomach, kidney and urinary bladder
channels.
Indication
1. Dispel cold and warm the middle jiao, promote vital energy and alleviate
pain: For stomach-cold syndrome with epigastric and abdominal cold pain,
vomiting, hiccup and diarrhea, colic of cold type.
2.
Warm the kidney and produce vital energy: For insufficiency of kidney-yang
with dysuria, stagnation of cold-dampness in children with turbid urme.
Pharrnacological
Action
Oral administration of its volatile oil acts as an antiseptic in the urinary
tract.
Administration Decoction: 2-5g.
