The flower bud of Magnolia biondii Pamp., M. denudata Desr. and M. liliflora
Desr., family Magnoliaceae.
Characteristics
Bud
long-ovate or writing brush like, covered by yellow-white and lustrous
hairs, with short stalk on the base. Aromatic in oddur. Acrid in taste,
warm in nature, and attributive to lung and stomach channels.
Indication
Expel wind and cold and clear the nasal passage: For sinusitis, allergic
rhinitis, nasal polyp, hypertrophic rhinitis, etc.
Pharmacological
Action
1.
As an astringent to protect the nasal mucosa and as a vasodilator and
antiphlogistic by improving blood circulation in the nose.
2. Hypotensive.
Administration Decoction: 3-10g.
